Everything you need to set up and use your OperaClaw AI agent.
Getting Started
What is OperaClaw?
OperaClaw gives you a dedicated cloud computer (VM) running an AI agent. Your agent lives on the VM, can browse the web, run apps, manage files, and communicate through your chosen channels — 24/7, without you needing to be present.
Step 1: Sign up and choose a plan
Create an account at operaclaw.com and choose a plan. Solo ($19/mo) is perfect for individuals. Pro ($39/mo) gives you more power. Business ($89/mo) adds team seats and custom webhooks.
Step 2: Complete onboarding
After signing up, you'll go through a short onboarding wizard: name your agent, set its personality, connect your AI provider, and choose a channel. This takes about 2 minutes.
Step 3: Wait for your VM
Your cloud computer is provisioned automatically. You'll get an email when it's ready (usually under 3 minutes). Your agent starts in a running state.
Connecting Your AI
ChatGPT Subscription (Recommended)
Connect your existing ChatGPT Plus or Team account via OAuth. Your agent uses your subscription — no separate API costs. Go to Settings → AI Provider → ChatGPT Subscription, then open the live desktop and sign in.
Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK)
Prefer Anthropic Claude, OpenAI API, OpenRouter, Gemini, or DeepSeek? Paste your API key in Settings → AI Provider → BYOK. Keys are encrypted with AES-256 and never exposed.
Model routing
Under Settings → AI Provider, you can configure which model handles which tasks: a powerful model for complex work, a lightweight model for heartbeats and simple tasks (saves ~80% on API costs).
Adding Channels
Web Chat (always available)
The built-in web chat at /dashboard/chat is always available. No setup needed. Just type and your agent replies.
Telegram
Go to Dashboard → Channels → Telegram. Create a bot with @BotFather on Telegram (type /newbot), copy the token, and paste it in the setup form. Your agent will respond to messages sent to your bot.
Slack (coming soon)
Slack integration is in development. Join the waitlist on the Channels page to be notified when it launches.
WhatsApp (coming soon)
WhatsApp integration via QR code pairing is coming soon.
Using Skills
What are skills?
Skills are pre-built capability modules that extend your agent. Install Email Manager to have your agent handle your inbox, Research Agent for deep web research, CRM Assistant for pipeline tracking, and more.
Installing a skill
Go to Dashboard → Skills, browse the marketplace, and click Install on any skill. The skill configuration is pushed to your VM immediately. Installed skills appear in the "Installed" tab.
Enabling/disabling skills
Toggle skills on or off without uninstalling them. Disabled skills stay configured but your agent won't use them until re-enabled.
Skill triggers
Each skill has triggers — phrases or schedules that activate it. For example, saying "check my email" triggers the Email Manager skill. Schedules run automatically (e.g., "check inbox every 30 min").
FAQ
Is my data private?
Yes. Your agent runs on a dedicated VM — you're not sharing compute with anyone else. API keys are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. We never read your agent's conversations.
What happens if my VM goes offline?
VMs have an auto-restart policy. If your VM crashes, it restarts automatically. You'll see the status change in the dashboard. You can also manually restart from Settings → Advanced.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Go to Settings → Advanced → Export Config to download your agent configuration, skills list, and settings as a JSON file.
How do I cancel?
Go to Dashboard → Billing → Cancel Subscription. Your VM stays running until the end of your billing period, then is automatically destroyed.
What AI models are supported?
Via ChatGPT subscription: GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini. Via BYOK: Claude 3.5 Sonnet/Haiku (Anthropic), GPT-4o/GPT-4-turbo (OpenAI), any model on OpenRouter, Gemini Pro/Flash (Google), DeepSeek V3.
